Utility of garlic:
The main cause of dandruff is under nourishment of scalp. If the scalp is not nourished enough then it loses its moisture and dryness appears. Garlic is rich in phytonutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, zinc and phosphorus which are highly useful in providing the requisite nourishment to the scalp. Moreover, it contains allicin which is known to be a sulfur compound. This compound helps in neutralising all scalp infections and induces the immunity to fight any other hair disorders.
Cure for diseases:
A single clove of garlic contains all the essential vitamins and mineral oils which strengthen the immunity of the total system of the body. When the immunity is within margin, then the health issues are at bay. This is a good start for the dandruff not to occur. A healthy scalp ensures healthy hair and hence no scalp infections. So consumption of garlic must be included in the general diet. This would enhance the production and regulation of antigens. White blood cells, better known as the WBCs, are also regulated spontaneously which fight the diseases. A disease free body has the potential to stop the formation of dandruff.
Regulation of sebum:
Dandruff can also be caused due to extreme oiliness. This oiliness can be formed when there is extra production of sebum from the sebaceous glands. This disturbs the blood circulation adding to other infections. The hair roots get weakened due to the oily flakes leading to hair loss. Garlic manages to regulate the secretion of sebum in potential quantities so that the oil and moisture balance is at equilibrium. It controls the production of sebum required on the scalp membrane which effectually wipes away dandruff and thus makes the hair follicles strong and healthy.
Anti fungal and anti bacterial:
Most of the times, dandruff is caused due to fungal infections. A fungus said to be Malassezia furfur catalyzes the formation of dandruff on oily scalp. The antioxidant such as the allicin present in the garlic clove has anti fungal qualities which prevent the fungus to be activated. Moreover a single clove of garlic has the essential anti bacterial and anti inflammatory actions which keep the hydration of the scalp in balanced condition and cleans any infection caused. Thus, the itchiness caused due to the infection is also alleviated instantly and the scalp remains healthy and secured.
Applying with honey:
Apart from consumption of garlic in your regimen you can have a garlic mask for your scalp. All you have to do is take around five to six big cloves of garlic and mash them properly. Leave the mashed pulp for about ten to fifteen minutes. Add seven spoons of honey in counting into the bowl which contains the mashed garlic. Mix well. Rub the mask on the scalp covering the roots especially. After rubbing leave it undisturbed for about five to ten minutes maximum. Wash off with normal water. Rinse with your regular shampoo to keep out the smell of the garlic. No signs of dandruff will be observed.
Thus make the best use of the garlic by consuming and applying but be careful not to overdose it in any way to avoid the side effects.
