Digestive Biscuits Good For Health?

Biscuits are basically floor base baked food items. These are very often consumed by all age groups. But the generation which are crazy about biscuits are our little children’s. So its our duty to select such biscuits which are healthy for them. In the market, we come across variety of biscuits like chocolate biscuits, cream biscuits and many more. But we must be smart enough while choosing them. As biscuits are made up of refined floor which might affect our intestines. So always go for digestive biscuits that makes you and your family a little more healthier while eating.

Let us explain what digestive biscuits really are? Generally speaking, digestive biscuits could be explained or described as a sweet meal biscuit ( or cookie) basically first made in the United Kingdom in 1839 and is worldwide popular after that. We call it as digestive because it is believed that they have some antacid properties due to the use of sodium bicarbonate.

The nutritional value of digestive biscuit consists of : –

  1. 1 g protein
  2. 4g carbohydrates
  3. 2g of fat
  4. 5g fiber
  5. 5g of sugar
  6. And 90mg of sodium

But hey! Let us say it frankly they don’t have much nutritional value as you can yourself see from the stats above. Yes, you can see it clearly that most of the essential vitamins and minerals are absent from it and moreover when you will heat the added sodium bicarbonate above a certain degree its beneficial properties are removed due to a change in its chemical structure upon heating. So, where is the beneficial value then?

Just want to say that please don’t judge a product only just by its name bro. Though the biscuits are consisting of some amount of protein and fiber, but still they are not still enough to give you a healthy balanced diet. More to add, that just by taking 4 digestive biscuits you are having a packet of potato chips by judging the sodium content in them. Additionally, they have about 10% of saturated fat from vegetable oils which are by no means healthy for a human body by the way.

And what to add more than that for the explanation that they are healthy or not than to add that people don’t people’s view is that they are just for having some time pass or to add that they consider it just for a go eating. The digestive biscuits are also the most mass produced biscuits in the world for eating.

The worst thing that you must know about them is that they also contain some trans or chemically altered fats when vegetable oils are allowed to be hardened. Moreover, the Department of Health officially recommends the people to consume not more 5g of the trans fats in a day. Just as we said it previously that they are not good for human body and the previous statement very much confirms our statements stated above about the biscuits.

But we must say that whatever people say about how healthy or unhealthy these biscuits or precisely saying these digestive biscuits are, still people like to have them, and by people we mean people of all age group ranges. Be it, the kids or the teens or the adults of men/women or the old people. Yes, we must say that all of them like it. And why not? They provide a great start of the day with milk and a great snack in the evening with some crisp and sweetness and most of them the love with which they are made. Now you yourself decide that whether they are healthy or not?
